Sacha Baron Cohen Caught in Remake Torrente

At least, that’s how the franchise started. He continues to enact justice in the neighborhood as a guard with only the loosest sense of a moral code. Three films (with a fourth on the way) and Torrente has been dismissed from the force. Santiago Segura is the creator and star of the action comedy series about José Luis Torrente, a racist and corrupt police. Sacha Baron Cohen is interested in the lead role in New Line’s remake of Spanish film Torrente. Adam Sandler seems to be a fan: Segura landed a role as Sandler’s boyfriend Jack and Jill.

24 Frames Cohen reports that New Line has met several times to express his “deep interest” in the paper. Even dreams of keeping the Hollywood version in Spain. So far, however, things have not progressed beyond the discussion stage.
The latter is next starring vehicle Cohen, who meets with Bruno / Borat director Larry Charles. Cohen plays a dual role in the dictator: a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator that is lost in the United States.Promising, Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel are currently working on two scripts: Torrente and dictator.
He will next be seen in Martin Scorsese-directed Hugo Cabret, which opens Dec. 9, 2011.Cohen has also been linked with a Freddie Mercury biopic scripted by Peter Morgan (Beyond).
Here is the trailer for Torrente de Segura, to me saying “It’s Santiago Segura Torrente AS …!” Over and over again in my best (worst?) Spanish Accent
