As you know, we had a longstanding policy not to comment on these stories. We have not commented on this rumor in the press, except to say that the blog report that Comcast has an agreement to purchase NBC Universal is inaccurateYou’ve probably seen news reports speculating about Comcast’s interest in buying NBC Universal.
This happens from time to time. No wonder there is speculation about potential acquisitions given the financial situation of Comcast is strong. We always said we will consider acquisitions and investments to find opportunities to grow our business to be profitable, differentiated and scale
We have an excellent company that is growing in this economy and we have a bright future ahead in all our business lines. If the opportunity arose to add more content for cable, I definitely would like to take a look at this opportunity, but in a very disciplinedWe continue to invest in our cable business – is a key component of our DNA. Some of our other businesses as content, business services and interactive advertising are a smaller part of society today, and while they are growing rapidly, we would find a way to accelerate that growth. As Steve and I have said, the cable is right in the center of everything is Comcast.
You have all worked hard to grow our business and achieving strong financial position that we have the best team in the company’s ability to achieve our goals. So while we know it’s easy to get distracted by this type of media activity, it is important to continue the care that has always succeeded in making Comcast
