Alignment 2010 Sundance Film Festival

There was a lot last year, and I hear it might be even less this year. The big question is whether this year will be no business. Independent film PoorHere is the announcement of Sundance with a large number of accompanying fanfare about how this is the festival of the return to “risk” business.
In addition to the four categories of competition, the Festival presents films in five sections of the competition to be announced on 3 December. PARK CITY, Utah – Sundance Institute today announced the lineup of films selected to screen in U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The Sundance Film Festival 2010 runs from 21 to 31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah
In addition, the Festival will break tradition by not proceeding with the conventions of a feature film and instead of focusing on the launch of the whole program: a fiction film, documentary and short program will take the first Thursday (21 of January), starting the deployment of competitionsAs previously announced, the 2010 Sundance Film Festival has introduced several changes including a new section dedicated to and without low budget film and Sundance Film Festival USA, one-night only one case in which eight filmmakers visit Festival eight cities across the country.
“Being a team of experienced programmers and with the support of a healthy organization that offers the ability to take risks and re-think of all the programs this year so we decided to do some things a little differently,” said John Cooper, director of the Sundance Film Festival. “We believe this makes for an exciting festival that responds to both artists and audience, which will strengthen the independent film community.
“Our mandate is to support independent artists and celebrate the originality, creativity and compelling storytelling. “One of the founding values of Sundance Institute is that artistic excellence can not be measured in terms of marketing,” said Robert Redford, Sundance Institute President and Founder. Our place is to shine a light on the art of the film. This year’s program shows the integrity and willingness to go beyond preconceived ideas about what should be our Festival. It is not our place to decide what to display in a year in theaters.
